SAMUEL STETSON was born in June, 1679 in Scituate, Plymouth, MA. In 1705, "Samuel Stetson of Scituate" purchased land in "Wyndham" Conn. Then on Jan. 11, 1708, SAMUEL bought "by estimation 130 acres" in Mansfield from James Ross, "for consideration of one yoak of oxen."
In 1709 he was allotted land on the "East side of Nachauge River" ... "Being a part of the fifth alotment on ye crotch and by draught ye twelvth choice to be layd out in Mansfield according to ye last Voat of ye proprietors".
SAMUEL was a well-to-do farmer of Mansfield and was a Deacon of the First Church after its organization
Oct. 10, 1710. He remained a Deacon until his death, Jan. 4, 1726/27.
