SAMUEL STETSON was ensign of the Mansfield Company. He also represented Mansfield at least four years as Deputy to the Colony Court, besides being a selectman of the town. He was a leading citizen of Mansfield.
From the "Mansfield Rev. rec." (typewritten at the Connecticut State Library at Hartford) in the division "1774 to 1778", pages 1-13 and 28, SAMUEL STETSON was chosen one of a "Committee to procure relief for our suffering brethren at Boston". Later "to procure camp equippage," and in March, 1780, at a special town meeting, the town "voted and made choice of Ensign SAMUEL STETSON to be a committee for supplying soldier's families with provisions." He was 68 years of age.
Based on the strength of the above, his descendants were granted eligibility to the Society of American
Revolution.
