JOHN WAKEMAN and JOAN BEAUCHAMPS married Aug. 9, 1545, at Chaddesley Corbett, Worcestershire. Chaddesley Corbett parish is in the Wyre Forest, in a rural area just southwest of Birmingham. Prior to the 12th century, the manor of Chaddesley was controlled by the Crown. As a result of marriage, the manor was gifted to the Corbett family in the 12th century. The Corbett family retained ownership for a 200-year period. During that time they are credited with making improvements to the church, and in particular for improvements to the Chancel. In the mid-14th century, ownership of the manor passed to the estate of the BEAUCHAMP family, and they kept it until early 15th century, when it passed to the Pakington family. |
