JOHN WARREN "the middle", a cardmaker by trade, married ELIZABETH SCARLETT, Oct. 4, 1584. A cardmaker was a metal comb or wire brush used for combing flax or wool. He was taxed sixteen pence at Nayland on lands in the subsidy for 8 James I, 1611.
JOHN married second about 1605, Rose. She was buried Aug. 11, 1610 at Nayland. He then married third, Apr. 23, 1611, at Nayland, Rose (Brand) Riddlesdale of Boxford, Suffolk, England. After the death of JOHN, she married third Nov. 20, 1617, at Boxford, Richard Grymes.
His will was dated Mar. 27, 1613 and proved Nov. 4, 1613. He bequeathed to wife and children and 20
shillings to poor people of Nayland. He left instructions for his burial to be in the parish churchyard
of Nayland.
