Orm Drengson Åsland 2a inherited 2/3 of Åsland after his father died, but he probably used it all. It was his children who were found at the inherited residences around Åsland and Midjås. Torbjørg, his sister, was supposed to have 1/3 of the farm. It was her grandchildren who would settle near Åsland.

After Orm died his widow married Olav Moghus of Fyresdal. In 1615 Olav owned 1 tnK at Åsland and his stepchildren had 3 tnK. It seems from the trials of the 1620's that Olav Moghus had inheritance at Åsland. In addition Dreng Åsland and Tarjei Ringestoga got inheritance after Olav died.

Halvor Olson Moghus from Fyresdal lived at Åsland some years. He was a jurist in 1604.

While Halvor lived in Mo, he [Tarjei] bought 2 mK at Haugehåtveit from Halvor Haugehåtveit. According to the 1624 allodial census it was Dreng Åsland who had this. Tarjei Ormson Åsland 4b got the farm after Halvor died in 1611. He married a wealthy spouse, his wife was a widow and heir after Ingebjørg S.Felland died. On behalf of her children they had land at S.Felland, Rovshus and Ringestoga. About 1618 they moved to Ringestoga 5, but he was called Åsland when he leased Kvarvet in 1621.

Tarjei Ormson Åsland 4b married a widow with inheritance at S.Felland, probably she was Margit Olavsdtr and was from Tveito in Vinje. It is not clear with whom she had been married. In 1610 they moved to Åsland 7 and the young allodial owner, Steffen E(ivind?)son S. Felland 2a, had the farm. According to the 1615 matrikkelen he had 6 mK at S.Felland and 1 tn 4 mK at Sandåk. Tov Sandåk of Vinje had 2 tn 2 mK at S.Felland with his sisters. Tarjei Åsland had 1 tn 2 mK at Rovshus. At Sandåk there was a Steffan in the years 1609 to 1631, so Steffen S.Felland probably farmed there also.

In 1624 Steffen had allodial rights at Felland including Romtveit (1 tn 2 mK), Sandåk (½ tnK) and Tveito (3½ mK). In addition to that he had a mortgage on Tveito (1 tn 2 mK) and Felland (2 mK). It was still Tov Sandåk and Tarjei Ringestoga who had the rest of the farm.

The 1615 Matrikkelen [tax roll] tells that the stepchildren of Tarjei Åsland had 2 tn 2 mK and that Tov Sandåk had 4 mK at the farm. They were among the heirs after Ingebjørg S.Felland died so she probably had had Ringestoga also.

The bygningsskattelistene [The building tax lists] from 1617 to 1619 mention Knut at the farm. It is impossible to tell when he was the farmer, these lists are as a rule not completely reliable.

Tarjei Ormson had come to the farm from Åsland 7 about 1618. He was married to a widow and had, with her, inheritance at Ringestoga (2 tn 2 mK), Rovshus (1 tn 2 mK) and S.Felland (4 mK). In 1624 they also had 1 tnK purchased-property at Byrte (Midtgarden) and 4 mK mortgaged property at Sandåk. Tarjei himself had 2 tnK at Åsland, ½ tnK at Skredtveit and 1 tnK at «Flottin» (Floten in Lid?).

We find Tarjei several times in the sources. He was one of the heirs after Olav Halvorson Moghus died in 1622 and he was sued several times in lawsuits about land property in Åsland and Midjås. In 1629 Tov Sandåk and Steffen S.Felland sued him on behalf of his stepson because he used Ringestoga. Tarjei had no right to the farm as it was inheritance after their grandmother Ingebjørg Felland died. In spite of this, he was able to remain here. In the 1630's he was the only one in Mo parish who is listed as landowner by allodial rights in the sheriff's book, 8½ tn 2 mK he had. By the time he died Tarjei and his widow had been for some years users of the farm. Her name was Margit Olavsdtr and she was probably from Tveito in Vinje. Before 1645 she moved with her son-in-law to Åse 6 and is called allodial owner up to 1651 with 3½ tn 1 mK at Ringestoga and 1 tn 2 mK at S.Felland.

Nils was followed by Gunnar in 1626. The 1645 Koppskatten [poll tax] shows that Gunnar lived at the farm with his wife and mother-in-law. This mother-in-law was named Margit Olavsdtr and she had land in both Ringestoga (3 ½ tn 1 mK) og S.Felland (1 tn 2 mK). She was the widow of Tarjei Ringestoga 5.

It was Tarjei Åsland who had Skredtveit in 1615. Dreng Åsland with his brother had it as allodial property in 1624, Tallak Væting with coheirs in Fyresdal also had 1 tnK as allodial property.
