GEORGE ALLEN was born in Thurcaston, Leicester, England, in 1580. He was probably the son of RALPH ALLEN of Thurcaston. GEORGE was sometimes referred to as "the elder."
He married KATHERINE STARKES in Thurcaston on Nov. 5, 1624. They came to America with their children in 1635, with a group led by Rev. JOSEPH HULL. They left Weymouth, Dorsetshire, England on March 20 of that year, arriving at Boston, Suffolk, MA, on May 6. GEORGE was in Lynn, Essex, MA, in 1636. And then moved to Sandwich, Barnstable, MA, in 1637.
GEORGE ALLEN was admitted freeman at Sandwich on June 30, 1639. He was also elected constable, and in 1640 was elected surveyor of highways. He was one of five persons to divide the meadows, and in that division received 6-1/4 acres.
He died May 2, 1648. His will is in the office of the Register of Deeds at Plymouth, where it was proved and recorded.
KATHERINE married second, John Collins, and removed to Boston.
