JOHN HOAR was apprenticed to his father, May 11, 1632, in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England. He came to New England with his mother in 1642, and was among those able to bear arms in Scituate, in Plymouth Colony. In 1659, he sold his Scituate lands, and removed to Concord, Middlesex, MA.
He owned about three hundred acres in the western part of Concord, but exchanged the larger portion of this with Edward Wright, in 1672, for an estate in the East Quarter and for "all the right, title and interest which Edward Wright of Concord aforesaid, husbandman, hath or should have in and to certain houses, lands and hereditaments etc. in the Lordship of Castle Bromwich in the County of Warwick in the Kingdom of England." (Middlesex Deeds)
ALICE died June 5, 1696, and JOHN died, intestate, Apr. 2, 1704. On May 22, 1704, administration of his estate was granted to his son, Daniel. The probate records show that Daniel had taken care of his parents since 1683. (Middlesex Probate)
