THOMAS BASCOM came to this country probably not far from the year 1634, at which time he was established at Dorcester, and from where he went to Windsor, Hartford, Ct, one of the second company that settled there. No record of his marriage or of the birth of his eldest daughter, Hannah, has been found. Both of these events undoubtedly took place prior to his removal to Connecticut. Three children were born at Windsor before he removed to Northampton, Hampshire, MA. He was probably one of the earliest settlers at Northampton.
The first mention of his name at Northampton is the admission to full communion in the church on
July 14, 1661. In 1661 he was elected town constable, made freeman in May, 1670, took the oath of
allegiance Feb. 8, 1678/79, and died there May 9, 1682. AVIS died Feb. 3, 1676.
