THOMAS NICHOLS was in Hingham, Plymouth, MA, as early as 1637, as he had a grant of land in that year, as well as addition grants in subsequent years. Nichols Hill, referred to in early deeds, probably took its name from him.
On Mar. 11, 1653, THOMAS added to his real estate, purchasing from THOMAS JOSSELYN, his father-in-law, "a dwelling house, barn, etc. with three acres of land, which had previously belonged to Stephen Lincoln. The land was adjacent to lands of Stephen Lincoln, and Thomas Lincoln, husbandman.
THOMAS was married twice, first to REBECCA JOSSELYN, the mother of his children. She died Sep. 22, 1675, at age 58.
The name of his second wife was Dorcas. Her surname is not known. They married Sep. 23, 1681, and died Nov. 8, 1696.
THOMAS was elected Selectman in 1696. His occupation is given as "farmer". He resided on Fort Hill
Street, a short distance from the West Hingham railroad station.
