Biography

JOHN DRESSER, "shoemaker", had an acre and half house lot on Bradford Street in 1643. He was about 61 years old in 1668 according to Essex files. He was born in England and brought his wife, MARY, with him to America.

He died in 1672, and was buried April 19 of that year, probably at the old Burying Ground in Rowley. His will dated Mar. 5, 1671/72, mentions his wife Mary, eldest son John, son Samuel, and daughter Elizabeth. The will also mentions grandchildren John, Mary and Martha, children of son John. Also mentioned are two unnamed daughters, children of son Samuel (Essex Probate).
