HUGH MOSHER was born in Dartmouth, Bristol, MA, on Nov. 16, 1690. On Apr. 25, 1717, he married SARAH DEUEL (also spelled Davol). They sold their property in Dartmouth on Dec. 29, 1746. By Jan. 13, 1748, they were in Crum Elbow, Dutchess, NY, as was Christopher Deuel, father of Hugh Jr.'s wife. On that date they were given earmarks (brands)
Their lands were in that part of Crum Elbow that was set off in 1788 as the town of Washington. The only child for whom there is a recorded deed in this period was his son, EPHRAIM, who purchased land adjoining Christopher Deuel in 1752.
Of the children, it is known that Hugh and EPHRAIM moved to Dutchess County, NY, while at least three
of the others moved to Sussex County, NJ.
