JONATHAN BIGELOW was born in Hartford, Hartford, CT, on Mar. 22, 1672/73. MABEL EDWARDS was born Dec. 13, 1685, also in Hartford. They married Dec. 14, 1699, and settled near his father's homestead in Weathersfield Lane. JONATHAN died there Jul. 29, 1749. His will was dated Nov. 16, 1738, and was proved October, 1749. MABEL died May 14, 1765, in Hartford.
Records from the clerk's office in Hartford show that John Poogotoon (an indian) and Sarah, his wife,
with consent of their master, Thomas Reeves of Southwold, Long Island, did bind themselves and their son,
Sampson, to serve JONATHAN BIGELOW (themselves for four and one-half years, and Sampson for nineteen and
one-half years, to his age 21), dated July 12, 1723.
