An article in the NEHGS Register (Vol. 174, pp. 40-51, Winter 2020) by Myrtle Stevens Hyde, reveals newly found information about the Gardiner family who presumably lived in or near Bramford, Suffolk, England. PHILIP GARDINER was born presumably in Bramford, Suffolk, England. As an adult he lived in nearby Elmsett. He was described as a yeoman in his will dated February 23, 1613/14 and proved June 9, 1615. He married ELIZABETH DALE on Oct 15, 1560, in Burstall, which adjoins Bramford. As a widow, she moved back to Burstall, where she left a will, dated November 20, 1615, and proved September 27, 1616. In her will, ELIZABETH mentions her house in Elmsett, which she bequeaths to her daughter Elizabeth, and then to her grandson, Philip Gardiner. |
