THOMAS BLISS came to Boston, Suffolk, MA, after 1636, and lived in Braintree, Norfolk, MA. His first record occurred when he received a land grant of 36 acres for nine heads, Feb. 24, 1639/40, at Mt. Wollaston, Norfolk, Ma. He was made a freeman, May 18, 1642, at Braintree, and in Plymouth Colony in 1645. He remained in Braintree a short time before going to Rehoboth, Bristol, MA, in 1643.
DOROTHY WHEATLEY died about 1646 at Rehoboth. THOMAS married second, the widow Ide (Hyde). In his will he calls Nicholas Ide his son-in-law, but as Mary, wife of Nicholas Ide was not Thomas Bliss' daughter of that name, the term meant stepson as it frequently did at that time.
He speaks of "my four children", but mentions only his eldest daughter, wife of THOMAS WILMOT, daughter
Mary, wife of Nathaniel Harmon, and son Jonathan.
