SAMUEL GREENHILL and REBECCA BASENDEN married in England, and came to America from Staplehurst, Kent, England, in May 1634, on the same ship as Simon Willard, Timothy Stanley, and William Pantry. He was admitted Freeman Mar. 4, 1634/35. They removed to Hartford, Hartford, CT, the next year, an original proprietor of the town. His home lot was on the west side of Main Street, stretching from the highway on the bank of the Little River, to the road from George Steele's, to the South Meadow (Buckingham Street).
SAMUEL died soon after his removal to Hartford. His name can be found on the obelisk erected in the Center Church of Hartford, where he was a member.
REBECCA married second Jeremy Adams, about 1639, his first marriage. They had three children, John,
who married Abigail Smith; Ann, who married Robert Sanford; and Elinor (or Hannah), who married Nathaniel
Willet. REBECCA died in 1678 in Hartford.
