JOHN AYER is often confused with another of the same name. The other is Capt. John Ayer who was killed by indians in 1675 at Brookfield, MA. The New England Historical Genealogical Register (vol 17, pp 307-310) provides an in depth explanation of the two families. In 1692, HANNAH WEBB, mother of JOHN AYER, deeded land to her son Robert, and mentioned JOHN AYER, her son, in the deed, giving proof that JOHN of this biography was not the one killed by indians in 1675. JOHN AYER. of this biography, married second, Mary Wooddam. |
