WILLIAM SPENCER was baptised Oct. 11, 1601, in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England. He was a man of note, who came to America in 1631, and settled in Cambridge, Middlesex, MA. AGNES HARRIS was baptised April 6, 1604, in Barnstaple, Devon, England. She came to America on the "Charles", which sailed from Barnstaple, Apr. 10, 1632, and landed at Boston on June 5. They married in Cambridge probably in 1632. There is no record of other members of AGNES' family coming to America, but she might have been accompanied by a distant relative, Margaret Wyatt, and her husband Matthew Allyn.
Their children were born in Newton, Middlesex, MA, after which they moved to Hartford, Hartford, CT. He died soon after they arrived in Hartford. AGNES married second WILLIAM EDWARDS, Dec. 11, 1645, in Hartford. AGNES had one child, RICHARD EDWARDS, by WILLIAM. Thus two of her children are ancestors of LUCRETIA RICHARDSON.
From her first marriage, Henry Ward Beecher is a descendant, and from her second marriage, Jonathan
Edwards, the Divine, is a descendant. So she is the ancestress of two notable religious scholars in
America.
