EDMUND JOHNSON came from London to Boston in July, 1635, on the ship James, at the age of 23. He and his wife MARY were living in Hampton, Rockingham, NH, in 1639, and in June of the following year, he was given a land grant including a house-lot. In 1646 he was granted three shares in the cow commons.
EDMUND and his wife were assigned seats in the Meeting House, EDMUND in the first row of seats at the west end of the table with the younger men, and MARY with the women in the second row of seats at the east end of the table.
John Cuddington of Boston, for "a certaine debt for attending my late deceased father," conveyed to EDMUND JOHNSON, carpenter, 6 acres of fresh meadow, 5 acres of salt marsh and 3 milch cows, on Apr. 15, 1650.
EDMUND was about 39 years old when he died, leaving an estate of £111. He gave his home lot to his two
sons, Peter and John, and died Mar. 10, 1650/51. His widow administered the estate and married second,
Thomas Coleman. Provision was made for the education of the children.
