BENEDICTUS ALVORD was baptised at Whitestaunton, Somersetshire, England in 1621. He came to New England in the 1630's and settled in Dorchester, MA. He migrated to Windsor, Hartford, CT in 1635 as part of the group identified as Founders of Windsor. His name can be found on the Marker erected to honor those founders.

On Nov. 26, 1640, he married JANE (IONE) NEWTON in Windsor and joined the Windsor church in 1641; was juror in April, 1643; sergeant in the Pequot fight, 1637; constable in 1666; will proved in 1683/84. His son Joshia had the farm granted his father by the county for services in the Pequot War.
