ICHABOD was born in Norwich, New London, CT. He married MARY CARPENTER, of Coventry, Tolland, CT. They had six children, all born in Coventry. He lived in Coventry and served as a soldier in the Revolution, and was on the Lexington Alarm list. He was in Capt. Buell's company from Coventry. ICHABOD appears in the 1790 census at Tolland, CT, page 133.
He married second Apr. 17, 1777, Elizabeth Miner. She died Nov. 10, 1794, age 52.
He is buried in North Cemetery, Grant Hill Road, Coventry, CT. MARY is also buried there, as well as Elizabeth Miner, son Ichabod Jr., and the son's wife and five of his children. He is apparently named after his maternal Grandfather, ICHABOD GRIGGS.
ICHABOD's brother, Eleazer, is the founder of Jewett City, New London, CT.
