Några kyrkor på Dal
Kyrkan är av rödmålat trä och anses vila på medeltida grund. Den uppfördes under 1670-talet på initiativ och bekostnad av brukspatron Paul Rokes på Upperuds gamla bruk. Tornet tillbyggdes 1701. Den vackra barockinteriören prydes av målningar i tak och på väggar samt läktarbarriär, uppförd 1682 är utförda av den skicklige kyrkokonstnären Eric Grijs. Altaruppsatsens övre del härrör från 1679, medan den undre altartavlan är från 1760 och predikstolen jämte de två barockänglarna vid det främre bänkparet snidades omkring 1680. Vidare märks dopfunten från 1200-talet samt flera träskulpturer.
På kyrkogården förekommer järnsmiden i riklig mängd. Kyrkan är vackert belägen vid sjön Närens nordligaste vik. Berggrunden i området är sandsten, som tillhör Dalformationen.

Some Churches in Dalsland
The church is of red-painted wood and is thought to be located on a site used in Medieval times. It was built in the 1670's at the initiative and expense of mill owner Paul Rokes of the old Upperud's mill. The steeple was added in 1701. The beautiful baroque interior, adorned with paintings on the ceiling and walls and rood screen, was created in 1682, designed by the skillful church artist Eric Grijs. The upper altar structure originates from 1679, while the lower altar painting dates from 1760, and the pulpit and the two baroque angels by the two front pews were carved around 1680. It is further noted the baptismal font is from the 1200's, along with several wooden sculptures.
There is an abundance of wrought iron forgings in the church cemetery. The church is beautifully situated on the northernmost bay of Lake Nären. The bedrock in the area is sandstone from the Dal formation.
