Completed - Will Build Line
to Nashua
The Montana Star Telephone Company has the poles all set and the wires all strung for the Culbertson Exchange.
Telephones are being installed this week in the business houses and residences and all preparations are being
made to open the exchange for business on the first day of July.
The local exchange office has been completed and is a handsome and commodious office building.
Miss Amanda Thorstenson, a sister of Construction Manager [O.M.] Thorstenson,
has been engaged as chief operator and Miss Kathrine Westergaard as assistant.
Miss Thorstenson is an experienced operator and the company will give prompt and
efficient service to all its subscribers.
The very best equipment obtainable has been used throughout the construction and the plant will rank with the
very best in any part of the United States.
The construction of the line from Culbertson to Nashua to connect with the Moore's Telephone Company's line
at Glascow will begin at once and will be pushed to completion as rapidly as possible.

Telephone Company Opened Its
Culbertson Exchange Yesterday
Morning with Fifty Phones
The neat office building of the Montana Star Telephone Company in Culbertson was opened to the public
yesterday morning, July 1st, with Miss Amanda Thorstenson as chief operator
and Miss Kathrine Westergaard as assistant operator.
Miss Thorstenson is a sister of Superintendent
Thorstenson and has a claim near her brothers in Plentywood. She has had considerable experience
in telephone work at Rugby N.D., and only left her position there a short time ago.
The front office of the local exchange is divided into two rooms, one open to the public and the other
to be occupied by the operators. Immediately behind the front room is the room of Superintendent
Thorstenson, and is provided with a handsome desk where he will keep the accounts
of the Company.
The switchboard is a handsome affair and provided with all the latest attachments. It has the facilities
for an exchange of 300 phones.
The Culbertson Exchange will be connected with the long distance toll line from Culbertson to Redstone,
which is a part of the Montana Star line. There are ten toll stations on this line as follows: Stanfield's
ranch, Baker's ranch, Brown's ranch, Homestead, Tyler's, Medicine Lake, Sherman's ranch, Plentywood, Sandvig's
place and Redstone.
