ROBERT WARDE of Filby was born about 1543 and was buried at Filby, Norfolk, England, Jan. 2, 1598/99. He married at Stokesly-with-Herringby, Norfolk, England, on Nov. 18, 1566, ALYCE (Pixton), a widow with two or three children. She was probably the widow of Thomas Pixton, and was herself buried at Filby, Mar. 23, 1608.
ROBERT WARDE's name is found in the 1593 and 1597 subsidy rolls for Filby, and on the Ormesby Rental Roll. The will of "ROBERT WARD of ffylbey, yeoman", was dated Dec. 12, 1598, and proved at Great Yarmouth, Jan. 23, 1598/99.
ALYCE "of ffilby, wyddowe the Relict of ROBERT WARDE, being aged and feable and weak in body, but
strong in mynde," made her will Feb. 12, 1603/04, and it was proved at Great Yarmouth, Mar. 28, 1609. Her
will is lengthy and minutely concerned with both household goods and grandchildren. She left 3s. 3d. to
the parish church of Filby.
