EDMUND SHERMAN was born at Dedham, Essex, England, about 1572. He married GRACE MAKIN, and emigrated to America about 1632. They settled in Watertown, Middlesex, MA; then moved to Wethersfield, Hartford, CT; and finally moved to New Haven, New Haven, CT, where they died.
Early genealogical publications gave the name of EDMUND's wife as Joan Makin. But according to "Was
Tobias Makin an Ancestor of the New England Shermans?", by Myrtle Stevens Hyde and Douglas Richardson
[TAG 61:79-82], Joan was not the daughter of Tobias Makin. That Joan married Richard Stone. It is possible that the wife of
EDMUND SHERMAN was GRACE MAKIN, sister of Joan Makin.
