Biography

Writings about Moen can be found in the Moen-Skarprud Ættesoga. A couple of accounts describe land owned by Anne Arvesdotter's grandfather, Aamund Ormsson, which would eventually come into her possession. A translation of these accounts can be found below.

The Moen Gardssoga identifies Aslak Guttormsson as the farmer during the period from 1593 to 1620, after which the farm passed on to son Aamund, and then on to his heirs after his death.

English translation

In 1591 Aanund Sveinsson makes it known in Lårdal that his father, Svein Nikulsson, has sold 14 "markebol" [rent or tax unit] of land in Moen to Aamund Ormsson - deceased: with God (dead). The land was Aamund's own alodial property. One gets a brief story that «Anne Arffuesdaatter, Haluordt Anonds: and Suendt Houcks: are descended from Amund's [thuende?] daughter and are Rightful and true "Odalsmendt" [owners by alodial rights]... ». It is those who paid out land value to Aanund Sveinsson.

In 1593 Aslak Guttormsson (g. m. Anne Arvesdotter) and Svein Hauksson announce that the farmhouse and storehouse at the two farmsteads in Moen are exchanged with those «the deserted farms» in this manner: For the lower Moen farm: Gjuve, Raben or Raabo (Aabø?) Svinemoen, upper Sæmoen and Grindeteig. For the new sub-farms of Moen: Midmoen, lower Sæmoen, Magnushommen and a «herdsman's cabin called: New milking place. At the end of old Magnushommen is a hill called: Smylemoen ... ». - And here comes the family. .
