JOHN AYER was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He came from Norwich, England, in 1637, on the ship "Mary Ann", commanded by Capt. Coos. JOHN was described on the shipping list as "John Ayer, grocer, of Norwich". HANNAH was said to be from Marlborough, Wiltshire, England. Her name is sometimes given as Hannah (Webb) Everett. JOHN obtained land in Salisbury from the divisions in 1640 and 1643. He sold his house, land and commonage to John Stevens, and removed to Haverhill on March 5, 1645. He died in 1657. His will was proved Oct. 6, 1657. Sons, Robert, Thomas and PETER were all admitted freemen of Haverhill May 23, 1666. |
