Biography

JONATHAN ANDERSON was born in Hingham, Plymouth, MA, on Oct. 16, 1728. He married first Mary Wilder at Hingham on July 30, 1752. Mary was born in Hingham on June 12, 1732, the daughter of Ephraim and Mary (Lane) Wilder. They lived on High Street in Hingham. They had seven children, six born in Hingham before removing to Chesterfield in 1763. Chesterfield is located a few miles northwest of Northampton. She was admitted to church membership in 1765, and died soon after.

He married second in Killingly, Windham, CT, to MARTHA HANNAH BROOKS of Killingly. Their intentions were filed on February 20, 1770, in Killingly. She was previously married to Stewart Kee of Killingly.

JONATHAN was a blacksmith and cooper, a cooper being a barrel maker. He died June 2, 1809.

Alanson married Priscilla Pierce. They had ten children, the first nine were born in Chester, Hampden, MA, just south of Chesterfield. The youngest, Mary Ann, was born Mar 25, 1814, in Stafford, Genessee, NY. According to the "History of Chesterfield" ... "Alanson followed his brother DAVID to New York State." The book goes on to say about Mary Ann, "She married Reuben McBride, went west with the early Mormons and has many descendants."

Alanson was admitted to the Presbyterian Church of Le Roy, NY, Sep. 16, 1816, as was his wife Priscilla and daughter Hannah.
