1. During the years 1948-63, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) microfilmed many records of the Swedish parishes, including birth, marriage, and death records through 1859. In addition, microfilm was made of other records (household examinations) to 1895. This work was done at The Swedish National Archives (Riksarkivet) where the old church books are kept.
   
   In exchange for the access to the information, LDS left a set of microfilm with the Archives. In 1993 a project was begun to convert the microfilm to a more modern form of technology. This lead to the formation of Genline AB. Genline bought a copy of the microfilm from the Archives, and has been developing technology since then to make these records available to the public on a fee-based basis. Genline is now part of Ancestry.com.
   
   
2. Most images from 1860 forward are from Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån—SCB). These records are transcripts of births, marriages, and deaths from 1860 to 1937. The transcribed SCB material is not as complete as the actual Swedish church books, and sometimes information such as a burial date, appointment of a godfather, or cause of death is missing.

Älvsborg is no longer a County. What was once Älvsborg is now a part of Västra Götaland. But, for purposes of research prior to 1999, Älvsborg is still a proper reference. Within Älvsborg there are 234 parishes, and records exist for all. Records for ancestors in this family have been found in seven parishes (Bolstad, Erikstad, Fröskog, Gestad, Holm, Skållerud, and Ånimskog).
