Bjørn Thorstenson i Fergus Falls town
kom fra Olof Dahlberg i syd herfra siste man-
dagi. Da han kom til Sloughen i syd for
Chris. Gunerius, var der en bel Del ung-
kveg ude paa Isen forat drikke. En af Aa-
ringerne var reist nedigjennem Isen, saa blot
hovedet og Forbenene stod ov. Den faa ud
til at have anstrengt sig lange forat komme
op men kunde ikke og var nu helt udmattet.
Der kom tre mand kjørende, den ene efter den
anden, og Thorstenson anmodede dem alle
tre om at hjelpe sig med at faa kalven op,
men de to svarede ikke, og den tredle havte
ikke Tid. Thorstenson kunde gaa ned i Byen
og faa hjelp, mente han. Thorstenson be
sluttede da at prøve redningsarbeidet alene,
og det lykkedes ogsaa. Men kalven var da
saa stiv af kulde, at den knapt kunde gaa.

Bjørn Thorstenson of Fergus Falls town came from Olof Dahlberg's in the south last Monday.
When he got to the slough south of Chris. Gunerius', there were quite a few young cattle
out on the ice for a drink.
One of the yearling calves
had fallen down through the ice, so that only the head and forelegs were above the ice.
It seemed to have strained itself to get up but could not and was now completely exhausted.
Three men came driving by, one after the other, and Thorstenson asked all three of them to help him get the calf up, but two did not answer, and the third did not have time.
Thorstenson could go down to the city and get help, but he was determined to do it himself.
Thorstenson then completed the rescue job
alone and that was fortunate of course.
But the calf was then so stiff that it could hardly walk.
